Edgbaston cricket ground is commonly known as the “County Ground”. This cricket ground is the homesoil for Warwickshire county cricket club. It is the second largest cricket ground in England. The stadium is located in Edgbaston area, Birmingham. Edgbaston cricket ground was constructed in 1882 and has the capacity for 25,000 spectators to watch the game.

The first test match in this cricket ground was the Ashes. It was against England and Australia and the match was held back in 1902. Edgbaston cricket ground has the honor to host several matches of international T20 from 2010 to 2012 and three matches of ICC cricket world cup in 1999. The WACA ground is named after “Western Australia Cricket Association” and it is operated by them. This cricket ground has been the home to western Australian cricket since the early 1890s. The WACA ground is located in Perth, Western Australia. This cricket stadium has a seating capacity of about 24,500 viewers. It is the home ground for the Australia’s first class cricket team, the Perth Scorchers, the Western Warriors and a women’s cricket team named the Western Fury.

The Kensington Oval is regarded as “The Mecca” for all the cricketers as well as the cricket fans. It has a glorious history of cricket of over 120 years, just like WACA in Western Australia. The ground has witnessed several exciting and important matches throughout its history. Kensington Oval is located in the capital city Bridgetown on the island of Barbados.

The stadium can accommodate over 32,000 spectators. It is one of the oldest among all other world cup cricket venues as the stadium was constructed in 1882. Wankhede cricket stadium is one of the spectacular world cup cricket venues in India. The stadium is located in Mumbai. The cricket God Sachin Tendulkar’s final match in his international career was witnessed by this ground. It was constructed in 1974 and has the seating capacity of around 45,000 viewers. For 2011 ICC world cup, the stadium was largely renovated. Currently the stadium can accommodate 33,482 viewers to watch the game. Wankhede stadium was designed by Shashi Prabhu and his associates and was built by B.E Billimoria and Company.

This cricket ground is currently operated by Mumbai Cricket Association. It is the home ground for Mumbai Indians and Mumbai Cricket team. Both in 1996 and 2011 ICC world cup, the ground hosted several matches including the Finals between India and Sri Lanka in 2011 ICC world cup. 6. Wanderers stadium, South Africa

The Wanderers stadium was nicknamed “The Bullring” because of its spectacular design. The Wanderers stadium was constructed in 1956 replacing the old Wanderers. It is located in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Wanderers stadium holds the capacity to accommodate over 34,000. In 1991, the stadium was renovated and in 1996, five new 65 meter high floodlight were installed around this ground.

The stadium acted as the centerpiece for 2003 ICC cricket world cup and has the glory to host the final in that tournament between India and Australia. 5. The Oval, England

The Oval is located in Kennington, South London. The stadium is often referred as “the Kia Oval” due to commercial sponsorship. Since its construction in 1845, it has been the home for Surrey County Cricket Club. The oval has a seating capacity of 23,500 spectators. This cricket ground has hosted several matches of 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999 ICC world cup and also hosted five important matches in 2004 ICC champions trophy.

The oval was used for various other sports beside cricket. Sports like rugby and soccer also were held in this ground. The Oval was famous for hosting first FA cup final in 1872. The stadium was renovated in 2002, while permanent floodlights were installed around the ground in 2009.

4. Gaddafi stadium, Pakistan

Gaddafi stadium is originally known as the Lahore stadium. It is the largest cricket stadium in Pakistan and 7th largest among all the world cup cricket venues. The stadium is located in Lahore, Pakistan and was designed by Naserddin Murat-khan. The ground was built by Miah Abdul Khaliq’s construction company in 1959. The Lahore stadium was renamed in honor of former Libyan Leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in 1974.

The Gaddafi stadium was redeveloped in 1995 by the architect Nayyar Ali Dada. The stadium holds the huge capacity of 62,250. Acting as a centerpiece of 1996 ICC cricket world cup, Gaddafi stadium hosted the final match between Srilanka and Australia. It remains as the headquarters of Pakistan Cricket Board. 3. Eden Gardens, India

Eden Gardens is located in Kolkata, India and has a enormous seating capacity of 66,000. By the seating capacity, it is the second largest cricket stadium in India and the fifth largest cricket ground in the world. The stadium is regarded as the” Cricket’s answer to the Colosseum” for its attachment with cricket. In 1987 ICC world cup cricket, it was remained as the centerpiece.

Eden Gardens hosted the finals between Australia and England in that tournament. Melbourne cricket ground, MCG is located in Yarra Park, Melboure, Australia. It is the largest cricket stadium in the world and the 11th largest stadium among all kinds of stadiums in the world. The stadium has the tallest floodlights at any sporting venues. The stadium has the capacity to accommodate 100, 024 spectators.

MCG is referred as the “spiritual home of Australian sports”. In 1992 ICC world cup, it was the centerpiece among other world cup cricket venues. The final match between Pakistan and England was held in this ground. MCG was constructed in 1853. 1. Lord’s cricket ground, England

Lord’s cricket ground was named after founder former professional cricketer of late 1700s Thomas Lord. It was the home of International Cricket Council (ICC) until 2005 and now it is used as the home ground for European Cricket Council, the England and Wales Cricket board.

Lord’s was established in 1814 and was renovated in2013 with a cost of around £200 million. It is located in St John’s Wood, London and currently the stadium is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club. It is not such a largest stadium like Eden or MCG with the capacity of 28,000. The stadium is famous for hosting four ICC world cup finals in history.
