After spending an excellent 2010/11 season for Schalke, Bayern Munich spent $26 million on Manuel Neuer, with another $10 million dependant on his overall performances. So many Bayern Munich supporters felt that the club had overspent on him as his contract was due to expire in 2012, a player who would have been available for free. Manuel Neuer has silenced all the critics and has become the best goalkeeper at the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He won the golden gloves as Germany won the World Cup for the first time since 1990.

Manuel Neuer is in the No. 1 position of our list of Top 10 best goalkeepers.

Despite this he remains a club legend, having come through the youth system of Real Madrid. Often he has had the misfortune due to inadequate defense in front of him. Real spent a lot to assemble a fearsome attack, neglecting the backline. But it was truly a great chance for Casillas to show his skills to an even greater extent, putting his body on the line and making some spectacular saves. In the 2010 World Cup winning for Spain, Iker was the potent savior and the captain of the winning side.

In 2001, his move from Parma to Juventus remains the most expensive transfer as a goalkeeper.
