Cricket is a bat-and-ball sport where two teams are competing each other. Each team usually consists of eleven players. The match in cricket is played on a grass field. The field is roughly oval in shape. There is a 22 yards flat strip at the center of the ground. It’s called ‘Cricket Pitch’. Since then, there have been 5 ICC Cricket World Cup and England team have not finished in the top 4 position in either one of them. All the top 8 ODI ranked cricket teams have played at least 1 semifinal in the past 5 ICC Cricket World Cup, except England. Even the underdog Kenya has played one semifinal.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 2: It is surprising that, there have been just two ICC Cricket World Cup editions with the quarterfinals format. England and South Africa are the only teams who have never crossed over the barrier of quarterfinals in ICC World Cup Cricket.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 3: Sri Lanka and India are the only teams in cricket world who have won both their ICC World Cup quarterfinals. The other for teams include Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia and West Indies. They have all won one and lost one quarterfinals in ICC Cricket World Cup.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 4: Since 1992, the last 6 ICC Cricket World Cup have witnessed an Asian team, contesting the Final. Among those, the world cups were won by the Australians. In each of this final, they beat the Asian teams- Pakistan in 1999, India in 2003 and Sri Lanka in 2007. The other three World Cup finals were won by the Asian teams, notably Pakistan in 1992, Sri Lanka in 1996 and India in ICC World Cup 2011.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 6: Pakistan’s all-rounder Shahid Afridi and Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene will be playing their 5 ICC world cup. Probably, it may be their final appearance.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 7: India’s national squad has only four members that were a part of their team in the victory of ICC World Cup 2011. They are MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ashwin and Suresh Raina. One the other hand the host team Australia also has 4 members (Clark, Watson, Haddin, and Johnson) that were a part of their 2007 ICC World Cup winning team.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 10: The Zimbabwe National team’s coach, Dav Whatmore has not played in any cricket world cup. Whatmore may not play the world cup, but he was the coach of a ICC Cricket world cup winning team, Sri Lanka in 1996.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 11: Duncan Fletcher, Phil Simmons, Aaqib Javed and Chandika Huthurisinghe are coaching different cricket teams than the teams they played for in World cup.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 14: Wanna know, who is the oldest cricketer playing in this ICC World Cup 2015? It’s not 40-year-old Misbah Ul Haq. He is the UAE’s captain, the 43-year-old, Mohammad Tauqir.

ICC Cricket World Cup fact 15: Finally, here comes the saddest story. The South Africa national team have never ever won a knock out match in a world cup. They are the semifinalist of 1992, 1999 and 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup events and also the quarter finalist of 1996 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup events. Unfortunately, they lost all those games. 2003 ICC World cup was the only world cup, in which they did not reach even the knock out stage. The 2003 World Cup was held at their home.
